RAW Nuts - How We Grow Our Coconuts
How we grow our RAW Nuts Young Coconuts
All our RAW Nuts Young Coconuts are grown to our specific standards. We control everything from the planting through harvesting to the packing and shipment of each and every single coconut. We can even tell you the exact day your coconut was picked on and where it was picked from!
All of our RAW NUts Young Coconuts are grown in the Amphawa region of Thailand. The growing area is about 80km West of Bangkok close to the beautiful Gulf of Thailand. The sea from the Gulf of Thailand imparts it's unique flavour into our RAW Nuts.
How Do We Pick Our Young Coconuts?
Our Young Coconut trees are much shorter than the traditional 'old' Coconut Palm Tree we are used to seeing on beaches on holiday.
We only use the Nam Hom variety which is traditionally only used for drinking. Some companies may blend traditional 'old' coconuts or use old coconuts picked immaturely to blend together in bottles or cartons to make a cheaper product. Although the Nam Hom variety is called a Young Coconut, it is actually picked at prime maturity for the flavour for drinking.
When our Young Coconuts are ready for harvest, all our coconuts are knocked off the trees using bamboo poles, or cut from the trees using long poles. The farms are specifically designed so that the fruit drops into the water in the irrigation channels to avoid damaging the coconuts.
We never ever use monkeys to pick any of our Young Coconuts. There is no need for us to use anything other than poles as our trees are not much shorter than the traditional 'old' coconut palm tree.
We believe in animal welfare and support animal welfare charities both in the UK & Thailand!
